Does a manual (Stick shift) transmission bmw 335i Coupe has a better resale value?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hi,
I am planning to buy a manual transmission bmw 335i coupe, and I am wondering that if getting a
manual or auto will affect the resale value if I want to sell it after, for instance, 4 years or more.

Well since its a 335i more people looking for sports oriented driving will be wanting to buy the vehicle when you resell it later. I would say the manual will have a better resale value to the correct person. Hope this helps

Passionate drivers will ALWAYS prefer a manual tranny, unless there is an amazing dual clutch in the slushbox. You buy a manual because you love to drive, not because it will get you $200-400 less in resale or trade in value. Despite what KBB and other appraisals say, a manual is what I personally look for.

Auto's alwasy hold a higher value as they are charged at a premium in the first place. residual values can vary by region according to demand. Simple advice, go for an auto.

Actually, I disagree. A car will be easiest to sell if you configure it with the most popular options, typically -- especially with std. shift vs. automoatics, as they are virtually two seperate markets.Since BMW sells more 335i's with automatics, the used car buyers preferring automatics will be more numerous as well. Having said that, I will partly contradict myself and say that certain model configurations may have a small but passionate following, and therefore might command a slightly higher price if you have just what that passionate used car buyer wants. And a very clean, manny tranny 335i could well be one of those model configurations that has that type of fan base and might get a price bump as a result.
