my check engine light came on today and when i went to put my 2009 elantra in D gear the cruise indicator came on but the car wouldnt move

Try unhooking the battery for a few min. and resetting the computer. Could be a fault in the transmission. Check your fuses make sure the one to the transmission control module is not blown.
