when a timing belt breaks does it cause any other damage

2009 hyundai Elantra timing belt broke would this damage the valves or would
something else need replacing besides the belt 200000km on the engine

It can. If you have an interference engine the valves are bent and, honestly, the vehicle will not be worth fixing. Hope that helps! Jim
