Steady whistling noise near rear tires

Asked by KE0BK Jan 15, 2017 at 01:14 PM about the 2009 Kia Optima EX

Question type: General

Today, I started hearing a steady audio tone near the rear tires whenever the
engine is running. The noise is constant when the car is in motion or idling in
place. It stops whenever the engine is turned off. Any idea what could be
causing this?

the cars ign system acts like a mini transmitter... open the hood and start it in the dark...do you see any flashing..sparks / check replace spark plug wire/s and maybe spark plugs...also there are several noise filters you can add to the power feed line...

Got to be a hole in the exhaust. May want to have it checked out in case carbon monoxide is seeping into the cabin.
