How important are engine splash guards in a 2010 Pontiac Vibe?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Tore out the large plastic "Engine Splash Guard" from under my car.  I think I could just
have the same one put back in, but how important is it really?  This is for a Pontiac Vibe
2010.

Not very important. The idiots at the 10 minute oil change places are always forgetting to put those back on fully or even at all on a lot of vehicles. Zip ties are wonderful for out of sight repairs like that. If the screw/clip holes are torn just drill new ones and if you can't use the same screws and clips just use zip ties, they'll hold fine. If that isn't possible then I wouldn't waste money on a new one. It just keeps engine bay a tiny bit more clean and some may claim "aerodynamics" help with gas mileage which is just B/S, so no, they are not important at all if it has to be left off.
