Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a 2009 GT Hard Top 42K miles, and the gear box is not smooth. It
is hard to shift into 2nd gear. Better as it warms up. Noisy rear bearing will be
replaced but should all clutch be RR with OEM parts? I miss my Mini Cooper's
6 speed Gertrag transmission.

Why suspect the clutch? when it seems as the 1-2 shift is the issue are all other gears Ok, smooth transition. Syncro possible... but most guy have some issue with the 1-2 shift. They check the condition of the nylon bushing at the end of the shift lever...check condition are the shift boots, and how much free-play in the clutch pedal? Any fluid leaks at the slave cylinder? I'm sure NO based on your Mini photos very clean! Next, worn motor mounts, drivetrain alignment. Fluid change and finally nothing wrong going OEM clutch pack. Still won't be Gertrag.. those Germans!
