I am buying a 2009 Porsche Cayman S and plan to do some track work. Do I need a brake upgrade?

if you are planning to race this car i would do brake, suspension, exhaust, engine, transmission upgrades all have a significant role in raceing but its going to be expenseive
Brakes are among the easiest upgrades you'll need. My 2003 911 Turbo could do only half a dozen hot laps before I had to let it stand for half an hour to cool down, but they were about as hot laps as the car could cope with.
The main thing you might need is a racing type air/oil separator, which would eliminate oil getting into the intake manifold (you would notice lots of blue smoke from your exhaust if that were to happen upon hard turning, as the oil would overcome the stock separator and allow oil to slosh into the intake). That condition is not good and could potentially cause engine failure if you continued to do that.
Get Pagid racing brake pads and you should be okay with oem brakes.
I believe that the OEM brakes are all made by Brembo, but I used race pads. Just be aware that track braking wears your brakes much faster than the road and if you drive very hard, you'll over-heat things. You'll need to cool the brakes often and NEVER sit in the pits after a fast session with your foot on the brake or the hand brake on - you will warp your rotors.
