TIRES

Asked by Hooha Jun 26, 2016 at 09:49 PM about the 2010 Toyota Camry XLE

Question type: General

want tires that will perform as advertised
in regard to mileage warranty. Car always
has tires rotated, balanced, and aligned on
a regulated and never missed schedule. In
addition the tire pressure is monitored
regularly throughout all seasons (New
Hampshire resident) .
I spoke with Toyota no known history
I spoke with Michelin through my tire
dealer and they gladly pro rated TWO sets
of tires‼️ Well when the 90k mile tire
doesn't make 50k. No matter how you do
the $ math I get screwed. Those pups are
very expensive.

There are many factors which determine how long a tire will last. Most important are wheel alignment...tire pressures....and driving style. Suggest you consider starting with a competent alignment shop.

Thanks Tony as you read I religiously have my car aligned. However your input has prompted me to look into the quality of skill in the provider.

Interesting to note Toyota released 2 Technical Service Bulletins concerning Tires for your vehicle. T-TT-0124-11....and.....T-SB-0187-12. The content of these 2 SB is unknown to me at this time. Do you know any Repair Shops that have access to Service and Repair Info? I assume the tire TREAD is wearing prematurely?

It is tire tread excessive wear and visibly noticeable. Michelin defender... "Michelin's best standard passenger tire, offering 90,000 miles3 of confident driving through exceptional safety, longevity and a quiet, comfortable ride." Not a run flat tire. I will persue the service bulletins for which I thank you. Note: As stated initially this Michelin failure resulting in prorated replacement happened twice.

Message received. Keep us up dated on this interesting issue.

well I went through a couple of dealers and a mechanic and the service bulletins came up as tire repair. I would like to move on and request from the gurus what TIRE CO. would be most suitable. Thanks Tony

Getting 90,000 miles on a Front Wheel Drive vehicle is a tough one. What mileage would you be happy with?

90k miles is worthless as I originally wrote when even with the prorating I loose. So that said I would be thrilled with a tire that meets the mileage it claims relative to the price and ride.

Understood. Curious...what mileage did you get from the OEM tires?
