what does shift to park means when the car is in park

Good luck---my car did that for several months before it quit going into any gear. It was dead in the driveway. I have had a module changed out. (But that did not fix it.) I just had the shifter module replaced ($420) because they said it was no longer under warranty. I just got the car back yesterday. If you find out what fixes it---let me know.

what does engine power reduced mean

Today, I parked my Chevrolet Cruz LS in my driveway. When I turned the enginer off, the message center told me to "Put the Gear in Park." (I had already done that). When I opened the door to get out of the car, it started going "dng, ding, ding" as if the seat belt was not fastened. When I closed the door, the dinging stopped but I could not lock the car by pressing the button in the door handle. (I didn't try the key).
