Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My engine light came on on my way home from work. Stopped to get gas and
went home. About an hour later car started like normal and I went running
errands. Pulled up to a stop light and the car just died like it ran out of gas.
No other lights came on and it wouldn't start. Stranded at a busy intersection
I tried several times to start it and it would try to turn over then die again.
Tried a jump to see if I could get it home but no luck. Bad gas? Water in the
fuel I just got? Anything?? I've read a lot on here and my issues doesn't seem
to be the same as others. The security light never came on.

Bad gas is possible, you would want to find a product that has Isopropyl in it, just go to the parts store for that, pour it in and let it sit for about 1/2 to 1 hr. and try it. You mentioned the check engine light, you would want to get the vehicle scanned for any codes. That would point to the problem.

I tried the isopropyl and it did not help. Changed the fuel pump relay as well to see it that might help, still the same will turn over and start for a split second then die again. Any more ideas to diagnose??

Need the codes, so many things it could be, I don't want you to be spending monies on things you don't need. If you do not know anyone with a scanner, the basic code readers are cheap and they have them at the auto parts store. One thing you could do that a code would not show is to check the fuel pressure and do a bleed down test.
