2.4 ecotech engine / GM

Regarding the 2.4 ecotech engine, is there a differance in the 2010 engine to the eariler models when it comes to m.p.g.  I notice the 2010  models are rated at 33 mpg  and the 2009 models are rated at 30 m.p.g. on the highway....
