2010 Chevy Malibu 3.6L

Question type: General

I've been dealing with -25 to -30 weather the past week or two. I was just
curious as to if the alternator charges whenthe car is running for 10 mins
during an astro start? I don't think it does due to the lack of electronics
working while running in astro and the fact the battery seems to get weaker
after running it like that and not actually driving anywhere. Does anyoneknow
for sure? Been a tech most of my life, but I'm unsure about this. Thanks.

You may want to check the output voltage of the alternator when it is warming up. Normally it should be around14 volts. If it is 12 or lower, it probably can't keep up with the demand.
