My 2005 Ford Explorer will not drive in reverse, does that means my transmission is going?

My 2005 ford explorer will not go into reverse ur just happened one day but all other gears work even 4wdr just not reverse dint know why and we can't check fluid on these transmissions cuz they dont have dip sticks I googled it says u have to take to transmission shop I looked on you tube says there's a tool you c as n buy to change your own fir those transmission but does this mean my transmission is bad or can it be something else causing reverse to not work also my 4x4 light comes on n off when it wants and also my cruise quit working when this happened too and my over drive

My 2 wheel drive with a 4.0 liter may take off fine shift fine and then act like you put it in neutral. Pull it to 2nd it works fine and shifts back up it does not always do this it is an 05 not much in it got another good tranny with about. 175000 miles shifts great this body is slick too hate to junk it could use tranny and maybe trade out some work very knowledgeable.
