My 2005 Ford Explorer will not drive in reverse, does that means my transmission is going?

Asked by Loftons2 Jun 01, 2014 at 06:36 AM about the 2005 Ford Explorer XLS V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have over 200,000 miles on my 2005 Ford Explorer XLS and have kept it service, but I
have never serviced the transmission. Have anyone experience this on your vehicle.

Transmissions require regular service just like your motor. I always change my transmission oil every 30,000 miles. Maintenance is the least costly thing you can do to ensure the longest life. If you are not changing your transmission oil regularly, you will run into this problem. With 200,000 miles on your transmission, a full rebuild is probably in order now.
