My wipers do not move from the starting position 2010 Equinox

My windshield wipers don't work don't move what can be the problem for a 2015

Same thing happened on my 2010 Chevrolet equinox, the driver's side wiper blade flew off while I was driving, then the wiper arm extended beyond the windshield, twitched a few times, and stopped. Later once I replaced the blade it wouldn't work, but I noticed I could hear the motor going and the arm wiggling a bit like it was trying to catch. I was able to fix it by popping the cap off of the base of the arm and just tightening the lock nut, then I put some lock-tite on it to hopefully prevent this from happening again.
