Bone dry and it still runs? The 5% reminder has nothing to do with oil level. It is a reminder to change the oil. Did you actually check the oil level? I think all that is going on is that the oil change guys may have forgotten to reset the reminder.

When you change your oil add some Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak no promises that it is going to work but it is worth a try. Worked for me.
Yeah I agree with F_O_R on this one about the meaning of the 5% oil change reminder on but the bone dry engine u said has happened twice check the inside of ur tailpipe see if it has black deposits in it because if not leaking it can only be burning or someone forgetting to add engine oil when changing oil or an enemy draining it out lol
Randy, I have a 2014 doing the same thing, losing oil, being mechanical incline, something is causing the oil to dissipate. I'm going through 1 gal of oil between 2000 & 3000 miles
My 2013 started burning oil at 62,000 miles. Had my oil changed in February and was bone dry in April. Apparently it is a manufacturing design flaw. They put the wrong rings on the pistons and they will not recall or fix the problem. I have to check my oil every 1,500 miles. It will cost upwards of $3,000 to have the right rings put in.
Hey, if u guys are unaware equinox has an extended warranty to replaced warped piston rings causing excessive oil consumption
Oh sorry. that extends to 7 and a half years after manufacture date of car
I have a 2013 Equinox mine just started dying when I went to give it gas, and had our manchinc come put his scanner on it due to it popping on the check engine light and he check the oil and it was bone dry , I had no warning that it was even low, no light, no nothing, plus he found water mixed in with my oil. Could anyone tell me why my 2013 doesn't have a right or anything for my oil light..

2013 equinox. drove it for 3 days from the used car place. Motor completely ceased. Oil at 1L instead of 5L! no burning, no excessive.smoking. vehicle is being sent back to the car lot.

2013 equinox 2LT no lights regarding engine oil, no dings or warning. Motor ceased completely up. Vehicle came safetied. 1L of oil out of 5L after driving it for 3 days. Google these vehicles appear to be completed garbage. lawsuit against GM in regards to the oil issue. Bye bye Equinox!
The Chevy 2.4L engines have an oil consumption issue, some design issue with the piston o-rings. If you take it into Chevy they will replace the o-rings per a technical bulletin. Highly upsetting it's not a recall considering you might not know it until your engine overheats. But that's chevy, their design flaws are your problem.
I have a 2012 equinox. I put oil in like 2 qts and 2 weeks later im driving and with no sign of trouble I hear and feel a break! Sound like I blew a tire but I had good tire pressure, steering wheel became a bit loose and no check engine light. Was able to drive with a loud clunking underneath to pull over. What could it be?
