Why did my side air bag deploy for no reason?

Asked by Stephenmpenny Aug 11, 2016 at 08:34 PM about the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt 1LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I was driving on a smooth road going about 35-
40 mph, and out of nowhere, my side air bag
deployed. I have been reading and saw that there
was a recall on 2010 Cobalts which is what I drive.
Although it says that the recall is dealing with the air
bags not deploying, mine deployed out of nowhere.
I'm very confused on why
