Hit a bump car lost gas wont start.

Asked by Theresa May 08, 2020 at 10:23 PM about the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt 1LT Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car won't start or turn over, it only clicks.
The key gets when I try to work the car BUT-
I was able to remove it with the button with the help of this website.
The battery is new I replaced it last September of 2019 my horn and
dashboard lights come on
In January I hit a speed bump and had to get the control module replaced for
800 bucks at prestige auto works.  ( :/ )
Is it an emergency lock thing?
I've read it could the crappy electrical in Chevy and I'm thinking of trading in
and taking a huge loss.
What could it be?

I'll give it a try. thank you! I also just tested with a personal diagnosis device and it says there are no issues.

This doesn't sound like a major problem. No need to sell the car. Just get it fixed. Make sure the battery connections are still tight. Find and service all the grounds on the car. They can be a problem on older cars and a harsh jolt could potentially cause one of them to fail. It's a new battery, but having it load tested wouldn't hurt. And yes, make sure its fully charged. Something may have been left on, maybe switched on by mistake when bouncing over the bump if it was harsh enough, or maybe just coincidental and not related to the bump at all.

Heads up, guys! Turns out it was a busted fuel injector fuse. :> It got replaced of no charge but I was warned to not use my cell phone charger in my car? I want to take care of my first car so- I'm still iffy about this happening again but thank you all for the insightful advice. Much appreciation.

Glad to hear you're up and running again. They're great little cars. Enjoy.
