2010 Chevy impala

When I put a cd in the radio the word err displays an it ejects the cd. All other
functions are working

More than likely the laser inside the unit that reads the CD has failed. This assumes you have tried multiple different CDs, including store bought CDs. Sometimes it is a laser alignment issue, but that is not something a typical tech could or would fix, especially considering the cost of a decent after market replacement is cheaper than three hours of labor that may or may not fix the problem.
