alignment?

Asked by GuruKPZ Mar 18, 2017 at 12:08 AM about the 2010 Ford Focus SES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought from a dealership and the it's only
previous owner was a mechanic at the dealership
My steering wheel jerks left to right while accelerating
Feels shaky or like I'm on bumpy road slowly goes
away if I'm going on the highway
..wobbles
My side road wasn't taken care of this winter so once
the snow froze over it became extremely bumpy and
hard to keep the wheel straight and the side road to
work was worse.

Check your CV joints. Then check control arm bushings, ball joints, inner/outer tie rods, but I think the CV joints are the likeliest cause. BTW any noises when this happens? Creaks, groans, clunking...? You could also call up that dealer and ask that previous owner if he has any inklings what might be going bad on his former car.

Sounds like a front end rebuild coming, also check the rack and pinion steering. put it on jack stands and take wheels off so you can get a better look.
