heat directed only onto floor

Asked by mollymcgee Jan 04, 2010 at 10:49 AM about the 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When you select the floor option for heat - only a minute amount of heat comes onto the
floor. Instead heat is directed to the windshield. My feet are cold! I wear contacts and have
always been able to get a break from the air blowing in my face with the previous cars I've
owned. Not to mention the fact that as a woman in my 50's I do not need heat blowing on me
from the chest up. Is there a secret to getting the heat to blow on the floor only?

It depends on a variety of things. Does your legacy have automatic heat? It sounds like your blend door switch/ motor is messed up. If it is under warranty I'd take it back to dealer for repair. It could be a costly repair if done not under warranty.
