why would there be no fuse?

I have a 2010 legacy 2.5i limited. i noticed a missing fuse, its the one for the
automatic transmission control unit. #17. first off, is the car equipped with the
unit? if it should be there, what would the car do or not do? the unit sounds
pretty important, so why would there not be a fuse there?
