2010 Ford Escape cot Squeaking/ chirping noise

Asked by JayC123 Jul 24, 2018 at 03:57 PM about the 2010 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 2010 Ford Escape xlt and I like
it except the noise it’s making, it mainly
happens when I’m in idle in drive and gets
louder if the ac is on. It almost sounds like
it’s coming from the rear but no idea, have
watched multiple videos but all to solve
different problems. Any ideas?

Mine was doing the same. I crawled underneath while in gear (wheels chocked). After i tightened the spring loaded nuts going to the catalytic converter, the noise decreased. So I just got done replacing the exhaust connector gasket, and the noise is gone! More miles will tell for sure. Part 9L8Z-5E241-A; $27 on Amazon. Easy to replace. 13mm socket and small pry bar/screwdriver.
