2010 Ford Escape Air Conditioner not working

Asked by Sherry Jun 30, 2021 at 02:17 PM about the 2010 Ford Escape XLT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took my 2010 ford escape to the shop to have the brakes fixed and the air
conditioner fixed.  He told me that he replaced the air compressor and it was
blowing cold air.  It worked for about 3 - 4 hours and then it quit.  He said to
put some more freon in it, which I did, and it got the air cold again  But that
only lasted about an hour and it quit cooling again.  Now it doesn't matter if
you put freon in it, it stil won't cool.  I called the shop and he told me to bring
it in and he would put a new condenser on it and it would be $276.  I paid
$1176 the first time and now it is going to be $276.  I need help.  Any
suggestions

Sounds like the guy u dealing with don’t know what he is doing. Although a lot of people out there think the dealer is expensive... it’s not... dealer gives u warrenty and they work on that one product only so they will know how to fix it right the first time.. u paying for a service and they telling u to add Freon... u the idiot

Well, Mark, thank you for your answer and for calling me an idiot. I'm sorry that I don't have the knowledge that you do concerning cars. But then I guess you don't have the same knowledge that I do about the law (I like one course having my paralegal certificate). I live on a fixed income and taking it to a dealer was not an option for me. And this still hasn't helped me get my air conditioner fixed and the temps are up in the upper 90's now. Yes, I am married but my husband isn't able to work on the car anymore. He can barely make it down the hall before he gives completely out. So, thanks for your non-helpful advice.
