I would not be surprised. Each large repair i have had on my 2009 GL 450 has been astronomical and regular. No one said that auto would be cheap. A/C compressor in DUBAI? It is probably working overtime. As a general rule though you have to remeber those cars are designed for more temperate climates where there are four less extreme seasons. Your A/C is probably doing double duty from any A/C that would be run from an American Spec car in the states. Mine in Europe rarely gets used. My shocks however and the lift compressor were 3200 € to replace. I am not sure it is unreasonable unless they used a rebuilt part. Also, check to see of it is a geuine MB part and if it is waranteed. I have a really great mechanic who has saved me a bundle and done free work for me numerous times when work was not needed and the dealership was going to charge me for another new part, for no reason when the old one was under warantee.

Mercedes dubai charged 1,095US$ for checking fee, each parts separately got charged, and they dont repair, THEY ONLY CHANGE PARTS :( ... all preordered.... 5 pages invoice indeed a nightmare, still did not hit summer tho... car not at all running in the desert ... works all time at the city .... car sweet & tenderly used got a huge repair with a huge amount.. anyways
