Power Windows Will Not Go Up

Asked by Andrew Sep 05, 2018 at 04:57 PM about the 2010 Hyundai Elantra SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, and the issue I'm having is that I can put all
the windows down from the driver's side master switch and each window's
respective switch. However, I cannot put them up with any of the switches.
The windows will go down, but not up. I have been told it could be the relay,
but am wondering if it is the respective switches (seems unlikely). Do you
guys have any idea on this?

I have a 2010 Elantra. It seems like this is a pretty common problem with Hyundais. This sounds like the problem with the window switches that many people are having. For me, the rear windows started moving slower, the back right window would go down but not up, and then eventually the back windows stopped working altogether while halfway down. Both of the back windows were stuck down and I was unable to get them to move from either the back seats or the driver's side switch. After trying a few things, I guessed it might be a problem with the switches. I purchased a new genuine Hyundai Power Window Main Switch Assembly on Amazon for $52, including shipping from Korea, and changed it out in 20 minutes in the parking lot during my lunch. Once put back together I was able to roll the windows back up with no problem. I can now roll all of the windows up and down like new from the driver's side main switch. I will need to replace the rear switches to get them to work too but for now I'm happy. I'd recommend getting a switch and replacing it yourself first before messing with the motor or the regulator. I got a brand new genuine part so that I wouldn't have to worry about a faulty knockoff switch. Hope this helps!

Alex, I've been unable to find any instructions on how to replace the power window assembly on my 2010 Elantra. Did you have to remove the whole door panel, or is there a way to just pry out the switch assembly on its own? Any help GREATLY appreciated!
