HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED ANY REPAIRS OR SERVICE ON YOUR SUBARU OUTBACK
WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION? SO FAR, I'VE HEARD NOTHING FROM ANYONE ON
THE LINEARTRONIC TRANSMISSION FROM ANY YEAR SINCE ITS INTRODUCTION IN
2010.

I thought the CVT had to be replaced completely.. no repairs? Didn't we talk about this ages ago?
Maybe, my account lost many questions and had to be rebuilt, I was looking to see if I asked this question and couldn't find it while some others repopulated.
You know, there are many parts inside a standard automatic transmission as well and they are rebuilt all the time. If there's a problem with the pulleys or belts in a CVT, why do you think it can only be replaced with a new unit?
I have no idea.. but like I tell everyone else, check out the forums. model specific or NASIOC. Here's one thread: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/104-gen-4-2010-2014/55121-cvt- long-term-problem.html I intend to keep our 03 and 04 for as long as possible!
Thanks, I read through a number of these posts. While a few people had early problems, another person reports 113,000 miles and no issues whatsoever. So, I guess it all depends on how you drive and maintain your car. I'm pretty easy on my cars and don't abuse them, as in race them. I suppose, there are people who can be always pushing their cars to the limit. I'm too old for that and know how expensive it is to get problems fixed.

Markw I've noticed you are on a LOT of Subaru CVT Questions. Look on the International Institute of Highway Safety website. You'll see complaints about Every model Of Subaru with a CVT. Accelerating and crashing Accelerating in Reverse And having a transmission shut down on the highway and the car completely coasting. The tranny gets hot& turns off to protect it self in Layman's terms. I really wanted to 16 Forster but after reading about the 15s I'm a little wary. Those are the negatives I've heard about.
lookingforgood, I'm really glad that you brought this issue up. In case you haven't already read the post earlier, a person with a 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5 and CVT transmission has logged 290,000 miles on the original engine and transmission with no problems. Please share your evidence with me.. Not only did Subaru make introduce their new Lineartronic CVT transmission in 2010, they made the decision to jettison the old 5 EAT transmission in favor of the new CVT transmissions in all of their new vehicles.
lookingforgood- take a look at the posted comment about the 290,000 miles here, http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-c21664_ds686183
You mean this website? http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/subaru/outback-4-door- wagon http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/subaru/forester-4-door- suv/2016
lookingforgood- Please read this article, the history of CVT is very long. You're going to be surprised that dates back to the 15th Century, no kidding, see below. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/fluids-lifeblood-keeps- transmissions-de-stressed-yulia-sopina? trkSplashRedir=true&forceNoSplash=true

The 2015 Foresters Mark. The 16 's to early to tell? There was a STOP shipment in September of this year & the lawsuit that was settled on January 6 2016. Looking it up. Complaints about oil consumption and... Engine failure

Are the new CVT sealed Aka... Good for life as they say? Wouldn't that mean you would have to replace the whole transmission? I just have cold feet now this will be my first brand new car ever and I'm trying to make a good decision Subarus always were top of the line it seems like they're going down hill?
