Yeah, now that he's blowing $700+ on struts he doesn't need he might as well get the new 6-ply head gaskets the Ukrainians are using!
Where's the "best of cargurus" button?
Interesting answers, I called Subaru of America and gave them my VIN number. Turns out, my 2010 Subaru Outback has the newly designed multi layered head gaskets. Some of these answers above are too vague or people just didn't want to call and look into it? Sometimes, you just have to go to the source to find out what's really going on.

...or just look at the top ede of either gasket: the three-ply looks different from the older one.
If you are able to see that clearly..... My advice, call Subaru of America at (800) 782-2783, provide them your VIN number. They emailed me the information about my car. I would say that most if not all 2010 Subaru vehicles have the new design. One other source told me that aside from an overheating situation, there's been almost no problems with the new head gaskets since 2010.
The head gaskets failed on some cars only after the person continued to drive the car due to some cooling system failure and overheated the engine causing damage to the head gaskets and heads from an accident.
The cooling system on the Subaru cars is pretty robust.
And, NO, I'm not planning on getting new struts on my Outback anytime soon. I don't know where you got that idea. I only inquired about this as a prospective issue. Again, I don't replace parts that are unnecessary.
Mark I thought you just bought new struts.. you already replacing them again? I don't replace unnecessary parts either, insta-delete!!
