To rebuild/replace engine or not

Asked by GuruTZ6QP Jun 13, 2018 at 09:17 AM about the 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Help please.  My 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i
hatchback apparently needs to have the engine
replaced/rebuilt.?  I know nothing about cars and
am wondering if it’s worth fixing.... it has 86000km
on it. And I was wanting to sell it or trade in in the
next year or so to upgrade to a larger vehicle.
Mechanics quoted me $5000 roughly to get a new
engine.  Help!!!

Do the math and decide. 86,000km is low so the rest of the car should be in good shape. If the car is worth it to you then go ahead but first tell us why the engine needs rebuilding.
