Question type: Maintenance & Repair
my 2010 GMC Terrain SLE AWD with factory command start has some serious issues with the dash/ignition system. It happens everyday now that it is cold, I will start the terrain the motor will be running and the gauges wont have power, the service air bag symbol is on the display, fan will work sometimes, sometime when the fan is working it will generate heat and sometimes it wont. the radio will work. rear defrost heated seats wont work and I can be driving for awhile and everything turns off and the signal lights wont even work. than bam it will all come on and stay on or just keep blinking in and out for 20 minutes or more(drive to work) any suggestions??

You have a lose wire or a short in the power supply to the system. Start with replacing the fuses, check the wiring connections and wires for lose connections or worn wiring. The hardest problem to find in electronics is one that in intermittent. Every time a mechanic looks at it, it works, but drive away disappointed and put will act up again. Frustrating for sure.
Ever fix this? Mine is doing the exact same

Yes the wiring harness that runs past the drivers door on the floor board has a connect that was completely corroded. We just cleaned the connections and it was as good as new.
Where was the connection that was corroded?
I have found the cable that go from the battery to the starter seatting on the moffer or catalytic converter... I put a new from dealer about $ 100.. Is running goog now...

I fixed it, No communication to ECM or TCM, would not crank. Fuel and temp guages inop. Look by the passenger strut tower, there is a grey wire harness connector. Snap it back together This may not help all of you but I think you will be happy if you try it. I acknowledge that it sounds too simple
