How to tell factory tow package from aftermarket hitch
Asked by windjunkie Sep 10, 2010 at 01:16 PM about the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country Touring FWD
Question type: Shopping & Pricing
Buying 2010 T&C I ordered Trailer Tow Group package which is supposed to include the following:
- Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
- Heavy Duty Radiator
- Heavy Duty Transmission Oil Cooler
- Load Leveling & Height Control
- Trailer Tow Wiring Harness
However, I have feelings that the dealer just installed an aftermarket hitch and a wiring harness and didn't bother to install heavy duty coolers and load leveling control. How can I tell what exactly I've got from the dealer? I can post some pictures of my hitch installation if it helps.
Thank you very much,

These are the pictures of the hitch and the wiring harness I got. They show some name on the hitch's body, a label, bar-code on the side, wiring harness which is located in the trunk, the way the harness's wire is connected to the break pedal's wire. Is it really a part of the manufacturer's trailer tow group package? How can I tell whether the vehicle is equipped with heavy duty coolers and radiators? Thanx!
Look at the New Car sticker for your Van. If it does not specify the Tow Package then you have an aftermarket package that most likely does not include many of the critical components of the factory installed package. The requirements for the new car sticker are written into law and cannot be modified and can be relied upon.
If you don't have the original sticker...purchased used, how can you tell?
You might be able to pull up the original sticker from this URL: http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/windowsticker/getWindowStickerPdf.do ?vin= Just add your VIN to the end of that URL before you hit Enter. I've seen it work for some and not for other VINs. Your milage may vary.
