My 2010 challenger will not turn over

Asked by Djbkay Dec 18, 2015 at 01:21 PM about the 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Dodge challenger will not turn over when
I'm trying to start it. It seems very strong and
continues to attempt to start but simply won't turn
over. After about 15 to 20 minutes of trying to start
it, it will sometimes start and will run just fine for a
while. It will start up as long as it is warm. But,
overnight it cools down and I try to start it and it
won't start again. It seems as if its not getting fuel,
but like I said earlier usually after about 15 to 20
minutes of trying to start it it finally turns over.
Sometimes it eventually turns over sometimes if it
does not. Please help , Thank You, Byron

Okay so clearly your starter and charging system are working very well - most cars would not crank for 15-20 minutes without killing something (usually the battery). It does seem like you have a fuel delivery problem. Maybe start with a fuel pressure test, good time to pick up a test kit from a parts store.

Ken is spot-on right. Extended cranking of engine will damage battery, starter, overheat cables... and I don't think you mean you actually cranked it for 15 minutes continuously without a 'rest' I know of no battery that could tolerate that. Or starter. Do not touch gas pedal while starting, the PCM 'knows' what to do.

My 2010 Dodge Challenger SE wont start. Every time I go to start it I hear a single click. Lights cut on in and outside of car. AAA came and tested my battery and said everything was fine. Even had the alternator tested and that came out fine also. I really don't wanna spend a shit ton of money trying to figure this out. Anybody have any suggestions??

We have the same issue as Jack Jack. We have a 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T. On cooler mornings we get one click when we turn the key. Later when the day warms up, no issues. Car starts right up, so frustrating. After testing the battery, starter and starter relay we(our trusted mechanic) have found out it is the TIPM(Totally Integrated Power Module). And man, that is a bitch to find. No one carries it and we are now at the mercy of the dealership. The part is $1398!! FOR A FUSE BOX. and then another $300 to reprogram and install. Definitely taking a beating on this one. We searched high and low for this part and it is just not a common part for our particular year and model! So off to take it to them. Hope this helps someone!
