Why my alternator keeps burning up

Not knowing what your gage is reading at the time, I suspect a short, power lead touching ground...

Have your battery tested. Also try a different brand of alternator.

What gauge? Mine only has a dummy light. And just theowing out battery and different brand alternator? That's more for your numbers than helping someone. A short I could believe. Checking the boxes next to the battery in the trunk in case something fell into something that could short, and the fuse box under the hood right now myself. I have the same problem.
