navigation system update??

Asked by millkev Jan 28, 2013 at 04:31 PM about the 2010 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2010, and the Navigation system says it has a 2009 version.  The dealer told me I can download the update from the website to a USB stick and plug it in.  It sounded too easy, I cannot locate the website.  Does anyone know how, and how much it will cost to update the Nav system?

Sonata? It takes about 3 hours. You can not turn the power off to the car during the update. Now, 2 to 3 DVD's later and trying to get the activation code from mapsoft you will be ready to go again. Good luck.

Has anyone ever heard of the screen saying "Software update failed"?

I also have a 2010 Genesis 4.6 with the NON-touch screen (toggle wheel) version of the navigation system. I called MpnSoft support.. here's what I got: The will not sell you 6DVD update... only the dealer can get it. It about $145 plus about three hours at their obscene labor rate... so $500 give or take. My dealer wants nothing to do with the job. MapnSoft said that even if the dealer buys the update for you, and you screw up and brick your system, they bear zero responsibility to replace the head unit. Oddly, if the dealer screws up, Mapnsoft does bear responsibility and will replace the head unit. So it's a royal screw job. $500 or so if you can get the dealer to do the upgrade and $145 and the potential to wind up with no navigation, no backup camera and no radio or music system. Lousy choice. Too bad because I love the car. My wife's 2018 Subaru connects to the house WiFi when she pulls in the garage and the system updates automatically. I should write a cranky letter to Hyundai.
