Gas tanks

Why can't I put more gas in after the 3/4
mark on my gas gauge it shuts off and will
not allow me to put more in and acts like it's
full but it's only got three quarters of a tank

If you cannot put more gas in, then the tank is full. Look at the condition of the tank from under the vehicle. See if it looks partially collapsed like a beer can. You could have a problem with the gauges on the dash or with the float inside the tank. DO NOT OVERFILL the gas tank once the pump clicks off the first time. You can damage the EVAP system severely if you pump raw gasoline into the purge valve/pump.
