Is This a Fuse Problem or Something Else?
Asked by andrews86 Sep 25, 2014 at 01:24 AM about the 2010 MINI Cooper Base
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My battery went dead unexpectedly. I got one from O'Reilly's and changed it. Now my
interiior lights are not working along with the turn signals. The windows won't go up and
down and my doors won't lock. Is this a fuse a problem? I have also read that I need to
get the battery registered. Would that cause these issues?

Battery registered unlikely and never heard of that. Sounds like someone is pulling your chain.. Sounds like a fuse problem. Find the accessory fuses in the owners manual and check the ones in question hope u know what a blown fuse looks like. Could be a main under the hood.

I'm having the same problem after removing the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. Does anyone know of a solution?
Integra_5544 answered 7 years ago
No was the wetfoot module ...nex to driver side ...130 in ebay and 100 to reprogram....
Battery registration is sadly very real. I'm having the same issue after replacing my battery.
I experienced the same problem that windows can not pull up and down after removing battery terminal even dash boarding board lights are not there. Tell me the problem
I am havin the exact same problem does anyone know what has caused this and how it can be fixed?
My problem was a footwell assembly/fuse box in the passenger footwell. I have a Mini Cooper 2010 and this was actually a recalled item. So the dealer replaced it for free. Hope you are as fortunate as me, good luck!
@jb555 How did you get to see if your item was recalled or not? I'm having the same issue and I'm seeing the prices are quite steep
back up light went out tried changing bulb still doesn't work could it be a fuse? or possible wiring problem?
My Parking light on the gear shift is staying on when I turn on car off. It is draining my battery. Know my battery and alternator are not the problem. 2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman
Did you find the solution to this problem?
I’m having the same problem:(
mine was the ECU, it is a convertible and apparently the water gets in runs down into ECU by the driver footwell. Cost me around £600 to get it fixed but mine was all electrics, including my indications, windows, hazards, central locking, nothing was working. New ECU, touch wood it's been ok :)
The same problem!!! So bad. After waste lots of money and time for nonsense, I have to go to BMW to repair it again. The windows cannot go up and down, the left and right lights and emergency light all cannot work. Who can help me?

Hi all I'm a mini technician and a control unit called FRM on passenger side footwell will have failed. These cars hate having batterys disconnected.
How do we fix it my lights and blinkers failed after changing the battery? Hopefully we don’t need a mini battery.

My Battery was disconnected for a month, I was replacing the engine. Now all done, reconnected the battery, and the Horn stays on constant and the headlights are on too. I havent even tried to start the car.
"The horn stays on constant...I haven't even tried to start the car..." Oh, my, I laughed so hard at this. Sorry! lol Okay, so my 2012 Mini S is having the same issue: headlights stay on, and blinkers and windows don't work. However, the sunroof works, the radio works, the heater works, the windshield wipers front and back work. Because the lights don't shut off, it drains my battery so I have to unhook the battery at night (and rehook when I need to start the car). I need to take car in for an electric auxiliary water pump recall and am doing that tomorrow. I will have them check the issues, obviously, at the same time. Curious though: would the electric auxiliary water pump issue have anything to do with the other electrical failure I'm having now?

Turns out the Horn and the Passenger side Marker Light uses the exact same type of connector. When reassembling the front end, I plugged the Marker light harness plug into the horn and the horn plug into the marker light. I found it by turning off the Auto light feature, and the horn stopped, so I turned it back on and walked around the car and noticed the marker light was out. Reached in and unplugged the horn... checked the connectors.. and plugged in the correct connector to the light. then the horn.. all fixed.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/ Your MINI is a special little car and needs lots of love and understanding. The link above is to a support group. Yes, even the batteries on these little things are special. For the love of God and your little one, never ever take it to Walmart service!
PS: Thank you CarGurus I have purchased 3 awesome MINI Cooper S 's listed on your site that my kids and I love , and 1 Chevrolet Colorado (my wife had to be different).
Hello I am dealing with all the issues above how do I remove the side panel to access the footwell. I want to order a new one.

Guys and gals this is a control unit problem. The box is left side driver footwell. Voltage spikes erase the coding in the unit. Do not buy another. They can be recoded to your vin. Mine erssed 2 times as i was looking for a short. Can find people to recode it on ebay. Symptoms include no signals horn lights windows brake lights etc. Guy i used on ebay gave lifetime warranty so second recode just cost me shipping. DO NOT JUMPSTART YOUR MINI FOLKS. Erased module on mine instantly first time.
My mini copper has a problem I cannot close the front window when I start the engen the head light stays on without switching them on
You need to replace the window regulator this is a common problem. Your headlights are in daytime running mode you can turn that off if you want but it's better to have them on.
Not going to like this, here are 2 pages that answer your problem http://www.adamsautowerks.com/blog/mini-cooper-interior-water-leak https://www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/bmw/bmw-and-mini-footwell-module-fault/
I have a 2013 Mini Cooper S bayswater edition. I had been driving it everyday as my commuter but stopped driving it for the last 3 months. I had it covered with the car cover an just sitting in ym driveway. I went to start it up and noticed the speedometer doesn't work, the gas gauge isn't illuminated and no dash lights on the cluster. I put a scanner to it and came back with codes to the ECU. In the process of replacing that but also not sure if the speedometer cluster has just gone out and needs to be replaced? I checked the fuses on the passenger side and all is good. Not sure if I need to check the ones on the driver side footwell? I checked the one under the hood and all have power.
2006 mini cooper, suddenly lose all power including electrical, no lights no indications even no hazard. Electrical jump start c/out still no power. Car towed back to car park and next day still no power, open the engine compartment door and tried to touch the main battery cables and engine fuse box, suddenly all power came back and engine started as normal, Please advise what's the problem? Now I won't use it after the defect fixed. Thanks
Same problem happened to me in my Countryman 2012, I closed the passenger door and the witness appeared. Now there's no interior lights, no dashboard lights, and the witness indicate that the door is open, cannot roll front windows. Does anyone know what could happened. Thanks in Advanced.
Simple answer. Footwell module. Should had been a recall but instead Mini just extended the warranty a little longer. Shame on Mini for this problem
Had white smoke coming from tailpipes on my 09 clubman, brought it in , no more smoke but now reading lamps out and battery very drained. Need jump constantly. I was adjusting my headlamps and touched some wiring somehow and lights got very bright l were dim I haughty because of battery but radio also went on and my rear wipers. I removed my hand from headlamp area and radio went off and won’t turn back on , sunroof won’t open so I did code test on tech and it came back with K -NUM. OD /SP 74539/73266 does anyone know what this means ?
Update my radio is working again and so is the sunroof but still needs a jump. Map lamps still not on . Dome is fine. I’ll check fuses for sure. Still don’t know what code means . Weird it fixed itself a little.

Hi. Have a 2010 Mini Cooper base. I was driving to work and my serpentine belt broke off while driving. Luckily i made it to work. Had to tow it tho cuz i didnt want to damage it. Also noticed that some wiring was damaged. Rewired but now the alarm/horn goes off when i switch to the first setting on the headlights. What can be the problem? I have LED headlights if that matters.

Hi, I have minicooper Clubman S 2010. And my signal lights and windows did not work. So there are few options. It does happen when you change the battery or you jump start the car. It is Footwell module FRM faulty. I went to BMW shop for minicoopers should be under 10 years warranty they fixed for free. Ifs its for older Minicoppers and warranty experied its around 600$
