Definitely something to read in the Bentley manual. If you don't have one, call your local VW service center for the info. Of course, they're going to advise you not to perform the maintenance yourself. On some modern VWs, like the Passat, you must command the brake calipers to retract with VAGCOM software through the OBDII port. I believe that's for the rear brakes. Either way, get some professional advice before attempting the maintenance. Better safe than sorry.
