2010 mitsubishi outlander

Asked by Margaret Feb 23, 2019 at 02:45 PM about the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander ES 4WD

Question type: General

The engine light came on a while back and was diogonised as oxygen sensor
being faulty, had it changed and the light went off , a few miles later after
fueling it came back on and it has been on since. My mechanic told me we have
to import another sensor as we cannot get a genuine one locally. The car has
no issues other than an increase in fuel consumption. Do I stop driving it until
we get another sensor? what would happen if I continue driving it with the light
on?

My outlander has the same issue, and I have been driving it for the past 4 or 5 years without any ill effect. My mechanic says it probably isn't worth changing considering the cost of replacement vs low difference in fuel consumption.
