I have an elderly friend, she owns a 2010 bug, she took it to the dealership for an oil change and they charged her $85.00. She only has 24,000 miles on it. Does this sound correct?

This sounds to me like they are taking advantage of her.

the dealership is always going to be the most expensive and most likely they put synthetic in that Volkswagen but I would double check to make sure it is synthetic because there is a big price difference. If you like my answer please rate as helpful and best so my reputation goes up thank you

call the service department where she took it to a dealership and ask if they use full synthetic

Post a copy of the repair bill here. Of course blank out the name and address of the owner.

i fill up my audi twice a year filter and oil run me about 90$ syntec oil, vw's run the same thing if it was done at the dealer 100% they only stock 5w 30 or 5w 40 syntec oil. Filter costs about 15-25$ depends on what you get really i always buy the best fram syntec filter and the syntec costs on average for 6L at the store 60-70$ on occasions that i find it on sale i get it less but 85$ is a bargin in my books since even doing it my self it costs me commonly 90$
