Older motor new truck
Asked by Peryco Oct 17, 2019 at 09:27 PM about the 2010 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie Quad Cab 4WD
Question type: Car Customization
So I'm looking for a 5.7 hemi to go into a 2011 dodge ram
Laramie chassis. So I found quite a few full engine swaps
(04 and older) with everything included but my main
concern would be like if the mounts would be the same or
would I have a hard time with engine harness etc someone
please help.

Don't go with an older engine. It would almost certainly not be smog legal and swaps like this are a minefield of changes to different things like sensors and smog equipment not to mention that your ECU would not operate the older engine properly if at all.
The thing is when I try to buy close to this year truck people want a arm a leg for it. So I'm just weighing out my options
Buying the correct engine will be cheaper in the long run. You will rue the day you tried to install the wrong engine which is why people like me on this forum discourage engine swaps like this.
In my state this swap would not be road legal. The first smog check would take it off the road.
Why not add a tuner like Superchips to your current engine. Plus older Hemi's had the issue with valve guides dropping in the motor and destroying it.
