How do I reset electrical system?

I replaced a damaged driver side mirror and since then my dashboard displays -40 (thats minus forty degrees) and my Climate Control & Check Engine seat/steering wheel warmers always come on.  The replacement mirror has all the same features as the original except for the power folding.

Remove the positive cable from battery for about ten minute,s,then replace,this will reset the ECM.

Remove both cables from the battery and touch the cables together and that should reset the ECM.
