How to replace your exhaust pipe?

Asked by alexandrajackson Nov 09, 2016 at 08:13 AM about the 2010 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My exhaust pipe got broken and instead of replacing it locally i ordered a
new one online from the Scott's Rods Exhaust Accessories
website.
I am wondering if i should try to replace it on my own or run to the first car
maintenance shop.
I own an 2010 Toyota Tacoma.
Any help is appreciated!

Really depends on your experience level, mainly dealing with rusty or uncooperative bolts. Are we talking about a length of exhaust pipe in the back or the exhaust manifold and/or collector? If it's the manifold, just be forewarned, if you snap an exhaust manifold bolt off, it will cost you a LOT to get it removed. If you're talking about only a length of exhaust pipe past the manifold and/or collector, go ahead and throw it on there, kinda hard to mess up. Having an impact driver might help though but not necessary.

If you have the time to wait I would put the penetrating oil soak in overnight. This will make the job a lot easier. Just don't drive it and burn off the oil.
