2010 Nissan Titan SE no heat
Asked by CHUCK_2010_TITAN Sep 24, 2016 at 11:20 PM about the 2010 Nissan Titan SE Crew Cab LWB 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
2010 Nissan Titan SE no heat. Just cool air
when temperature control is selected to
heat. Below is the troubleshooting I have
done so far from reading threads and
watching YouTube...
1) The water valve on the firewall works as
advertised. Took the cover off the water
valve and saw the valve rotate via the
shaft. Put the valve back together and both
heater hoses got hot when I turned the
temperature control to heat.
2) Took off both heater hoses to heater
core and back flushed core. No clogs.
Heater core is not leaking.
3) Ensured coolant level was topped off.
Bled radiator of air.
4) Used bore scope to verify flapper door
(blend door) moves with temperature
control is moved from cold to hot. Also
removed center instrument panel and saw
motor / cam move when blower is turned
on / off.
5) Checked 10A HVAC fuse in cabin fuse
box; good fuse
AC works fine. AC clutch does disengage
when heat selection to vents. AC engages
when defrost is selected.
Questions...
Is there more than the two flapper doors
(blend doors)?
Any fuses I didn't inspect?
Temperature control bad?
Is there a better way to bleed the radiator/
heater core? I ran the truck to operating
temperature with heat on and bled air out
of radiator cap and overflow tank
HELP!!!

There has been many issues with this models heater so it is hard to narrow it down I know you said you checked the firewall switch but otherwise others have just had to replace the control switches and heater box assembly as a whole unit.

Well... it must be the flapper door. The dealership I bought my truck from is going to fix it... FOR FREE! I'll submit one more thread to tell you what they find. Thank you Enginecreator!

It was the flapper (blend) door above and to the left of the glove compartment under the dash. They didn't pull the dash, just the glove compartment door. The mechanic showed me the old blend door and the plastic gears were stripped. I HAVE HEAT AGAIN!!! Thanks to B&D Auto fixing it for me at no cost to me. They even gave me a loaner car.

I have the same issue...no heat. I've bypassed the valve under the hood so I know I have coolant going to the core. I'm suspecting the same issue you had, but I didn't have any clicking leading up to the failure. Everything I've read up to your post appears like most have the clicking prior to failure. My question is other than loss of heat, did you have any other symptoms? ( ie clicking or other noises.)

I have a 2010 Titan and mine started the "clicking" about a week ago, right after I tried to use the heat after our first cool snap. No heat. Checked the valve hoses and both are hot, so I know that the hot water is going thru. The clicking is behind the glove compartment so that will be my next approach. The sound is just like plastic gears breaking. Thanks for that heads up Chuck_2010_Titan!!!
We bought a 2010 titan and within a month there was a recall on the clicking door heater control. they replaced under warranty. it is now broken again...my point is that they had a recall on it 8 years ago 2010 and if you didn't get the recall done, then maybe they will do for you at nc. hope that helps
