Brake scraping and metal clipping in reverse

Asked by Krzysiek_1989 Jul 05, 2019 at 11:28 PM about the 2011 Kia Sorento LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm going to try and narrow this down as much to
eliminate the obvious. My cars front right wheel
will start making a scraping sound at random
times. It is not the breaks or rotors since those
were changed recently. If I drive for an extended
time it will get worse almost sounds as a bad
brake and when I press the brake pedal fully it goes
away. When I pull into my driveway (incline) and
my car rolls back there will be a loud metal
clipping/snapping/rattle sound. When I drove the
next day/morning the car is fine no sound and will
randomly start again either same day or next few
days. I checked the dust plate and it seems like it's
not hitting the rotor. To be  clear it is not a grinding
or humming sound like a wheel bearing would
make or a CV joint  click

If you press the brake pedal and the sound goes away, I would suspect that maybe the brake pads are rattling on the rotor? Did you install the U shaped brake pad clips correctly? There is one clip per pad.

Did you ever find out the reason? My car is doing the exact same thing.
