Sound like it would be a HVAC actuator, but there are different ones for your vehicle, I wouldn't know which one. They are a electrical part under the dash. Check out this sight......http://www.carid.com/2005-ford-freestar-air-conditioning-heating-parts/dorman-air-door-actuator-34137747.html

It's the blend door actuator on the driver side. there are 2 above the gas petal. You want to change the lower one. it controls the tempt for driver side. I just changed mine today

I've already had it changed once. It's currently +2 above zero outside.
