This depends on your type of driving and the type of tire selected...there are literally dozens of choices...a wet surface tire....that'd be one choice (goodyear aquatred) into racing...that'd be Dunlap Qualifiers~ you might try a neutral source because Everyone wants your money... http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/tires/buying-guide.htm okay...alrighty then....am stunned that Cooper tire does not make a tire to fit the Mini Cooper...am stuck with pirellis....horrible~

typically would expect 40,000 out of your initial set...sometimes they cheap out with the "factory original" and they are smaller to save cost~ get a nice high-tred long life set~sooner or later you'll own Generals....not because you deliberately chose them....but it's what the tire guy happened to have in stock for your car~...I know it sucks, but they've been pretty good tires~

The ole "lucky penny" jammed into the thread...you should not be able to see the TOP of LIncoln's head (3/32" 4.5 mm)...also there are "wear bars" where the tread is deliberately embossed to show the tread all worn out~
