Have you checked the oil level?

The oil level is correct. The car goes to the shop on Thursday. Hopefully it won't blow up before it gets fixed. I was thinking that the mileage and that it has been burning/using oil and no leak..that the oil May need to be changed to a thicker consistency..and adding the Lucas oil treatment maybe be a quick temporary fix... Not sure if oil pump is going....service writer at Ford dealership seems to think that isn't the case....but everything that can go wrong with this car--HAS
This happened to my truck today as well. 2013 Ford Edge sport. Left it on while I took my daughter in to school and when I came back out I sat inside the truck, saw the warning light and it shut down. But it started back up pretty normally. Only got just over 50,000 miles on it. Any thoughts anyone?

Any follow up as to what the issue was?
I had the same problem and it turned out to be a faulty oil press. sensor.
I have a 2011 ford edge and I just got a oil change as well and now the low oil pressure light keeps popping on and I went back to where I got the oil change and had them check it and they told me that with with the newer fords you can not let your oil life get below 30% or it will be off track but I'm still a little concerned as to why this happened after i got my oil changed
My 2013 Ford Edge had the low oil pressure light come on after accelerating on the highway (6 hrs into 12hr trip) One common thread I noticed is that I just got an oil change the previous day. The light is still on and the oil stick indicates no oil loss. Frustrating.
We have a 2016 Edge and the same has happened to us Twice in one day. 1st time road side assistance was called, they couldn't identify any fault and sent us on our way after 2 hrs. 2nd time they towed the car back to the dealers for diagnostic checks, currently with a hire car awaiting a valid response from dealership!
I have some of the same things going on: took the Edge into have the oil changed, started seeing the light sometimes at low RPMs. First time I've ever had anyone else change my oil. Hopefully not bearings but something simple(r) like pressure sensor. Guess I'll try to get it checked out.

Guess Ford Edge is what they say...found on the road dead. I am having the same issues as all above. I had my oil changed. Then, sensor oil pressure low came on. Went back to them...oil level fine. My Ford Edge has LESS THAN 50,000 miles.
Our car was with the dealership for 3 weeks and once a technician was called from Ford Head Office it was identified that it needed a new BJB battery junction box? After BJB replaced we've had the car back now 3 weeks and no further faults.....
Hi all, glad I am not the only one here. Just change oil for my 2015 edge, and the low- pressure warning begins to pop up. the warning only happens when I stop. It turns off when the car starts moving. My car is around 90k miles Any thoughts what cause the problem
I had a similar situation today with my 2013 Ford Edge. I was about to pullover at the traffic light when the low oil pressure light warning pop up then my steering wheel jammed as it was locked as well as the breaks and the car just stopped even though the engine was still on. I turned it off for few seconds then turn it on again and the oil warning disappeared and the car came back to normal!! Any ideas guys. I read there’s a glitch with oil pressure warning in Ford Edge 2011 to 2013
Same issue with us...2013 Edge, had the oil changed (went full synthetic if that makes a difference), and began experiencing the low RPM stalls/shut downs. The car also starts jerking when sitting at lights or stop signs and the brake is applied, trying to stall. I'm wondering if the transition to synthetic has anything to do with a sensor malfunction, or something like that? Any thoughts?
Having the same issue with my 2013 edge. The brake boosters are going out, which I thought was causing the problem. But while I was in the Wendy’s drive thru, my car stalled out twice after the low oil pressure light came on. Started right back up, but a little worried to drive it still. I have an appointment next Tuesday, to cover warranty items, glad I went with the extended certified warranty. Hopefully it will be a quick fix, because I’m driving from Cincinnati to New York in a week as a half
Turns out mine was a bad sensor valve. It was sticking. Replaced it and running perfectly. All fixed! $270 parts and labor
Having the same issue with my 2013 Ford Edge Limited. My Low Engine Oil Pressure warning comes on and I lose steering and it shuts down. It also sometimes the jerking thing while stopped at red lights. I just have to restart the engine and the behavior stops for a while. There is usually a rotten egg smell that comes along with it so I am wondering if it has something to do with the catalytic converter? I really love this SUV but it has had a few too many problems, which seem to be widespread, with no recall from the company.
I know exactly what it is, because I am having a friend work on my wife's in the next day or so. He has worked on at least 5 with the same problem. Most have higher miles, but apparently the Edge has this problem no matter the miles. The problem is that the water pump is going out or in some of your cases, already has. This cause antifreeze to back up because it has nowhere to go. Check your oil, and if it more of a chocolate milk color, and if the antifreeze in the reservoir is low or somewhat low, that is most likely the culprit...especially if it shuts down with the low engine oil pressure light. DO NOT START IT OR DRIVE IT! ALEX, Louisville, KY
i'm having the same problem. Low oil pressure lite on. i have about 140,000 miles on the car. took it to mechanic and the oil pressure was fine. couldn't find anything wrong with the car. he changed the sensor hoping to fix the problem. changed the oil and added 5W 30 instead of 5W 20 thinking it might help with higher mileage cars. lite was off for only 2 weeks and is constantly coming on while driving. car back to mechanic of several diagnostics and he still can't find whats wrong with the car. everything checks out okay and the cmp not spitting out any codes. he said maybe its a computer problem, and needs resetting??? anyone heard of this?
my 2017 ford fusion has had this since i bought the car jan 2018. i have had the sensor changed 2 times. they acted and actually told me no other car does this in their records. The indicator light goes off as soon as i drive away and it doesnt do it all the time. ???? they said a code never comes up. so i guess I'll leave it alone.

My son bought his 2007 Ford Edge with 165,000 miles from a family friend who maintained the vehicle very well. December 2019 he got an oil change & 2 weeks later on his way back to school the oil pressure light started coming on when he braked to stop & only comes on when slowing down & sometimes while stopped at a light but not always & it doesn’t stay on the entire time while stopped when it does come on! The oil change was with Amsoil partial synthetic at proper viscosity. Generic car sites say not to drive it but threads dealing with the Ford Edge specifically indicate literally dozens of people having this exact same issue & pressure checks ok, computer doesn’t show an errors & some have had sending unit replaced but still have the problem. Has ANYONE had this problem completely cured & if so, what was the fix (short of getting a different vehicle!).
I recently had a low oil pressure warning after a hard acceleration. after a little research I found that it was the low oil pressure switch or sensor whichever you'd like to call it it's a $15 part it took me about an hour to change resolve the issue.also while changing it out I noticed that this old sensor had been leaking slightly around the unit dripping down under the AC unit.I did find it a little easier to change the unit after removing the oil filter.
ImStillaYankee answered 4 years ago
Dan, thanks for your reply but last week the ac died & the repair would cost $2k so the oil pressure light is no longer a worry as he had enough of sinking his money into the money pit & bought a Toyota.

I deal with the same issues get oil change and the oil pressure light constantly goes off I think I figured it out. Every time I get oil change I add one extra quart due to believing the sensor is higher than its supposed to be at the max line on the dip stick. Through out the year I did slowly add a little extra oil at every oil change and finally got to one full quart after I leave the oil change shop and boom sensor won't come on for awhile no issues no problems all good. Just be careful because too much oil isn't good I say add little at a time daily just to get to that point of light not coming on anymore.

2013 edge with 150,000. Turned the AC on and about 5-10 min later the low oil pressure light came on. I turned AC off and it stopped. Later that evening I was driving and it turned on again. Then again in a parking lot... what the heck is wrong with this dang thing. Oil is fresh and not low at all

I'm having the same problem with my 2011 Ford Edge. My low engine oil pressure light came on a month after having my oil changed, plus my breaks are bad too. To where it is hard for me to step on the break pedal. Then I went to have the oil changed again still the light came on. So I took it in they said that they don't know what's wrong with the breaks, but they aren't leaking fluid, but one of my oxygen sensors needed to be changed. So I just took it in today to go get that fixed. Left the shop and my light came back on again. So now I have to take it back again to find out if it has something to do with the breaks.

Shepard, I'm sorry to tell you my 11 Edge went through the same problem and it is a pricey one. Mines going into the shop on Monday for the oil pressure sensor. Now to your brakes...I'm guessing your pedal is going all the way to the floor before the car stops and you dribble a little urine on your weatherproof floor mats like i did. That's a sensor in your brakes that only the dealership can fix. It cost me $2500. Heads up, don't let them try and sell you a new MBS, it's not leaking. Wish you the best...

My 2013 Ford Edge did the same as some have mentioned; shut down as I was approaching a red light.. brakes froze up and the steering all stopped working. I turned the key, pulled it out of the igntion and started up again.. it got me to my destination. Just picked up an oil pressure sensor, heading to the mechanic in the morning hoping that's the fix I need.

Has anyone had this in conjunction with the Check Fuel Fill Inlet warning?
I posted earlier in this thread and I wanted to update. I first had the low oil pressure light after an oil change and I chalked it up as the shop using a bad 3rd party filter as it went away after switching to a OEM one. But then (about a year ago) I started getting the fule inlet issue that devolved into it shutting down well comming to a stop. After 3 attempts by the local shop to fix the inlet pressur problem, I gave in, and brought it to a dealer. They fixed the inlet problem and the car no longer shuts down, but if left idling for longer than 10 min you can see the RPMs start to dip and when they dip below 1k the oil pressure light starts to come on. Last, this only happens when the tank is below 1/3 full. As soon as I fill the tank and drive for a few minutes the oil light stops coming on... I'm guessing that the cap-less presystem is still not fixed fully and it's causing the fule pressure to be off when the tank is low and has been running for a little wile. Regardless we're getting to the end of this cars life and it's definitely made me want to stay away from a FORD in the future.
