2011 Aveo Automatic transmission

Automatic transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd but won't shift to 3rd.

Mark thanks for your help, when I check the transmission fluid is in a good level and even looked fairly clean I can still see red. Someone had also mentioned the fuses and they were all good. The person I bought the car from originally, said he had the same problem and he replaced the coil pack. And it worked great. But I don't want to just change the parts if I don't need to . Are there tests for the coil pack in the other things you suggested?

I did check the alternator output and it was 14.3 volts. And I'm not sure how you can tell if you have a problem with your speedometer mine seems to be working fine.
