I got ready for work as usual -remote started the car (7 degrees) dropped kids off then went to work. All good no problems. 10hrs. Later remote started 2011 traverse or so I thought. Went out to leave and auto not running . Didn't think much of it and started it and check engine light was on and remote start won't work. (Some info oil change and life is good - 1/2 tank of gas and 18 degrees at this point) any ideas

yes...this would happen all the time in me own Hometown of Milwaukee, WI...try a couple of bottles of HEET~ perhaps this will melt the obstruction in the fuel line~

That is what I was thinking of for my first plan of action thanks
I believe the car has to be in the lock position before it will remote start. Perhaps the below freezing weather has stopped some of the contacts to be made to complete the circuit for remote start? If you have it in a protected garage so it will warm up, and it is above freezing for a while, try and see if it works. Don't leave it un-attended or running in a closed garage as carbon dioxide poisoning will be a factor. Also make sure it was locked before trying the remote start.
The remote start will not work with the check engine light on at all. And the vehicle will automatically shut off after running for so long without the key actually turned on. If it's like my 2009 traverse I can restart it one more time with the remote, given no check engine light, and after the second time of it running long enough without the key turned on to shut off it will not start a 3rd time without manualy starting it with the key. Hope this helps.
Definetly get the check engine light code read with a scanner though. A lot of car part stores will do it free of charge or pretty cheap. It could be something as simple as Oxygen sensors or the gas cap not being right enough is a very common one too. Hope this helps.
It is definitely related to check engine light on. You do not need gas additive, it is not frozen lines or obstructions in the line. On the traverses, take it to auto store and get code....most of the time it is related to the variable camshaft timing position sensor. If anyone has replaced their throttle body, always try to do the vct position sensor as well. Also, if you had the throttle body changed it was probably due to high mileage with very little or missed oil changes. Sledge build up in the engine will usually cause issues with the throttle body and possibly other parts attached. Use an oil flush cleaner and change the oil. Do this a couple times or once a week for a month to get out the sledge. Trust me, the cost for the new oil each week for a month is worth it. Either spend the money on the oil or damage your engine. I choose cost of oil and the oil flush cleaner. After you have replaced the vct position sensor, your engine light shut come off and you should be able to remote start your vehicle again. Dont forget to turn it back on in the menu.

I have a question as well would the o2 sensor cause this to happen as well? Cause my car is the same way I have a 2014 Traverse
Mine is a 2014 as well. I would take it up to a place that does engine oil flushing. More that likely it is build up of sludge in the engine. If you have ever noticed that your vehicle is a quart or so low on oil, but you know for a fact you dont have a leak and your not burning it....then it may be the sludge build up. Try doing that next for sure. You can also do it yourself, just make sure to have an extra quart to run down through after using the oil engine flush. Most tell you to add flush treatment to engine oil and idol for 10 minutes. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR WHILE DOING THE FLUSH! Then once you drain the oil and treatment, pour the extra oil in to run through the pan. Drain the best you can....or you can remove the oil pan as most recommend. Wish you well, and always read the full instructions.
