what can I use to get the tackiness off of my buttons on my Jaguar XJ 2011

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
on both sides of the monitor and the window buttons there is a tackiness. Is
there anything I can use to get this sticky tacky feeling away? I hear this is a
common problem with the XJ from years 2011-2015 but my car isn't under
warranty so I need to figure a way to get it off myself.

I would go on Jag forums for more advice. If the tackiness is due to failing switch material you may not be able to clean it off.
I went on a couple of forums and found the following - use this product and it will remove the film. Some people used Goo Gone to remove the film and it left the buttons shiny as it removed the rubberized coating. The person that used the electronic cleaner did not report this effect.
Great. Thank u. Thank u. Thank u. I am getting my car next week and will go straight to Walmart!
I have same issue let me try it now. I have some somewhere.
There was a TSB technical service bulletin on it issued by Jaguar North America and they covered it 100% if the car was in warranty and also CPO car. And if you had your car maintained at the dealership and you’re out of warranty they would also pay up to 90% to have them replaced by the newer buttons. If onE switch, panel etc was bad they’ll change them all!!! It’s sad a lot of people didn’t know about it and lived with this BS! If not MANY have had success with using regular lotion and rubbing it off with towel and using alcohol or “Awesome” with a toothpick, collar stays, etc to get in the corners/cracks. The before and after was like new!!!!!!!!
It’s unbelievable but I used hand lotion and a very think bladed, plastic spatula. The substance rolls up on the blade, keep scraping it off then use damp microfiber cloth to wipe clean. You will need to go over it a couple of times adding lotion, but it works!
sticky no more does our ferrari buttons and switches
