Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1989 BMW 325i E30 and have just installed a complete sound system I had the sound system on the battery that everything is connected to in the trunk, but the sub and amp suck alot of power and as a result i bought a new battery and put it into the engine compartment as a secondary battery for the sound system so ive hooked the sound system up to the secondary battery but it will probably die in a few months becuase it is not connected to the alternator so I am wondering where the alternator is and how I can connect the second battery to it.

The alternator is located in the front of the vehicle, bolted to the engine and driven by a belt. You will need to wire a negative to ground on the battery, and a positive to the alternator, but you should probably run it through the fuse block or regulator. This is a job for a pro since you don't want to risk messing up your cars electrical system with a bad wiring job.

it might also help to switch to an alternator that pumps out more amperage. check www.bavauto.com

Have you looked into getting one or two caps (capacitors) for you sound system? That may be more practical then trying to run two batteries in series or whatever your intentions may be with two batteries. Capacitors store up power from your battery, then release it to your car amplifier during peak demand, so your system delivers consistent bass when you turn up the volume.

their is a spot behind right strut tower for a battery and conections their for it i have same car and the trunks suck back seat only has a pass threw holds in lots of bass i have a 15' rockford 1200w sub thinking of cutting a big hole in plate

If you cut a hole in the back seat plate your car will twist and cause alot of issues . it jeopardizes the structural strength of the car
